Nowadays, people have an increasing clamor over cigars. The Fuente cigars trace their roots in 1912 at Ybor City located in the humble town of Tampa, Florida. The production led by Arturo Fuente closed in 1924 because of a big fire that crippled their factories. In 1930, the production was successfully restored. The cigars back then were produced from Cuban tobacco. This lasted up to the 1960s. After the embargo of US with Cuba was instituted, the cigars were created from Dominican tobacco. Due to some business constraints, the owner decided to move the production to Nicaragua in the 1970s. However, a sad encounter with the Sandinistas burned the factory down and stopped the cigar production. Luckily, the Fuentes found home in Honduras after 2 months. However, their business was again disrupted after a fire. In the 1980s, the owner decided to migrate to Dominican Republic where their resources originally came from. Their main factory lies in this country together with other extension factories and plantations. In the present, a total of 2000 persons work on the 6 factories and 4 plantations of the Fuentes cigars.

The Fuentes family has introduced different cigar lines. The most renowned is the premium Opus X which came into market in 1995. This is considered as the flagship of the company because of its filler and binder tobacco. Aside from this cigar line, the Hemingway and 858 are also quite famous. All these cigars boast of their full bodied taste and aroma. Once the cigars have reached the humidors, they will never be the same again. Even if they cost pretty high, there is no way to escape this expensive addiction. Indeed, the Fuentes cigars are the best of the world’s best.
